FRENCH GIRL STYLE...

I truly think the most interesting thing about the way people dress, is their love for certain pieces as opposed to others; it always makes me wonder, ‘What influenced you to wear that’, ‘Who is your source of inspiration when getting yourself together each morning?’ ‘What would you refer to your style as?’

All the Studio Agency girls have a way of dressing that sets them apart, they have a sweet tooth for different types of styling when it comes to creating themselves each day. More often than not, I think they find themselves leaning towards particular pieces that make them feel the most confidant; they search for a look that will represent the way they feel on the inside and attempt to softly mimic the people they look up to and aspire to be. When it comes to explaining my own personal style, I always thank the French! There are a lot of factors when it comes to the specific reasons I am drawn towards this type of styling such as; comfort, good materials, navy sweaters, chic flats, effortless vibes, my mother… the list goes on. So! I have decided that this short blog piece will be dedicated to 5 of my favourite classic french trends - Understated cleverness which stands by the argument that less is most definitely more!

1.     FLATS ARE YOUR FRIEND.

It’s true, that it may have more to do with the hazardous cobblestones that make wearing stilettos quite unpractical in Paris - but even so, it has simply come to give the French that desired, ‘nonchalant and effortless look’ so many women attempt to mimic. Believe me when I say that there is nothing more fabulous than a good pair of loafers. Invest! You will never look back.

2. IT'S ALL ABOUT NEUTRALS

Brown, White Cream, Grey, and my personal favourite Navy Blue & Black. Every lady has a man she thanks the universe for every day, my man is Yves Saint Laurent – those two colours, once upon a time, seen as an unlikely match, have become a staple of the French wardrobe ever since he famously paired them together.

3. A CLASSIC TRENCH

Clémence Poésy an ultimate French ‘it girl’ understands the magic of a good trench. No doubt a critical item for the French girl uniform, light camel or navy are often favourites, but no Parisian will ever pass up a beautiful black piece. Keep it simple. Keep it chic.

4.     SHOW SOME SKIN WITH A FRENCH TWIS

The French like to expose skin in unexpected ways such as an exposed shoulder or bare back. ‘Long and loose, not short and tight’ are golden rules that the French live by.

5. LESS IS MORE!

Simplicity, elegance, and classic… the most simple of outfits often will surprise you when they create maximum impact.

The thing about the French is that they have ease to everything; they appreciate buttery soft leather and understand the beauty of a cashmere coat. It’s quality over quantity; it’s about expensive pieces mixed with chic vintage finds. They always do less than the rest of the fashion world, but somehow they always do it better.
